Brittany Johan – Behaviour Support Practitioner

Brittany Johan - Behaviour Support Practitioner Central Coast NSW

Brittany Johan is an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner with experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults with complex behavioural, psychosocial, forensic, and disability support needs across home, community, justice-involved, and Supported Independent Living environments.

Brittany has worked extensively alongside participants, families, support teams, allied health professionals, and service providers to develop practical, person-centred behaviour support strategies aimed at improving quality of life, reducing restrictive practices, and increasing long-term stability and independence.

Her experience includes supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, ADHD, FASD, schizophrenia and other complex mental health presentations, trauma backgrounds, forensic histories, substance use concerns, and high-risk behaviours of concern. She has particular interest in trauma-informed practice, forensic and risk-informed behaviour support, restrictive practice reduction, environmental safeguards, and improving consistency across multidisciplinary support systems.

Brittany is committed to delivering culturally safe and culturally responsive support and values working collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants, families, communities, and support networks. She recognises the importance of respecting cultural identity, lived experience, community connection, and individual perspectives within the behaviour support process.

Brittany adopts a compassionate, non-judgemental, and collaborative approach, with a strong focus on understanding the underlying function and drivers behind behaviours. She is passionate about supporting individuals who may have experienced long-term system involvement, complex trauma, social disadvantage, or barriers to accessing appropriate supports.

Her work focuses on balancing participant dignity, choice, and control with the safety of the participant, support staff, and the broader community. Brittany values building strong therapeutic relationships and developing realistic, sustainable strategies that can be consistently implemented across everyday environments.

She is committed to ongoing professional development and delivering behaviour support practices aligned with the NDIS Practice Standards, PBS Capability Framework, and evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support principles.
